Immediately after retiring from the world of administration and returning to my art roots, I painted two large acrylic paintings. Since experimenting with digital art, I found that the second of these paintings lent itself beautifully to digital manipulation. I have 46 different variations of “Ova” and picked out the five that I consider are the best.
Ova 1 is an almost black and white, very neutral rendition that is both dramatic and textural.
Red Splash Ova is predominantly black and white with bold pops of red.
Green Ova, is calming in its almost neutral but green colouring with undertones of complex texture.
Mid-Century Ova, like its name, is designed to echo and compliment mid-century style with its classic ’50’s reds, dark yellows and turquoise colours and organic forms.
Cubist Ova translates the Ova theme into cubist style with an array of blues – from navy to pale blue accentuated with a smattering of pale yellow for contrast.
